Senator Whelan introduces bill to expand egaming servers

New Jersey is on the brink of going live with its newly legalized online betting operations. Those who have already established brick and mortar casinos in the state are able to begin offering online betting. Currently this only allows for those licensed using servers within the state of New Jersey.

One senator, Bill Whelan, wants to see this expanded to allow for servers to be located off site. This is part due to many of the casinos entering into agreements with offshore companies that will supply established gaming software and the fact that many of their servers are offshore already.

Senator Whelan was once the Mayor for Atlantic City and wants this bill amended. He believes that the current law limits the casinos ability as servers must be housed at the casino itself and not any other location. His new bill will, if approved, allow for servers to located in other locations beyond the casino that will provide for a secure location that is not accessible to the general public. It further states that all server equipment must be controlled by the licensee or by those operating it as a gaming affiliate.

It is believed that the amendment will get approval due to the bill requiring that servers remain in the city.
