Two New Bills submitted in Massachusetts relating to Online Gambling

Two new bills have been submitted in the state Legislature of Massachusetts by Senator Jennifer Flanagan as well as Senator Bruce Tarr. The Flanagan bill will seek to ass the sale of state lottery tickets online within the borders of the state. In addition it seeks to include various other games such as scratch cards and keno and will include a provision to allow for interstate agreements.

Senator Bruce Tarr is one that will be watched with interest within the online gambling community as seeks to allow the Massachusetts Gaming Commission to award licenses and to regulate those operators who are deemed suitable who wish to offer online gambling within the state of Massachusetts. The bill includes provisions to ensure the states lottery is protected by only licenses games that are not included under the state lottery. This would also apply to for interstate agreements.

The bills will now go to committee’s for hearings into the bills and it is expected to see these acted on quickly due to like New Jersey and who have already begun the process of creating legislation that will govern online gambling within their states.
